The Machinist

I saw this movie recently. It's about a guy who hasn't slept in a looong time and his sense of reality is totally obscured. You can say he's pretty much insane. To me, it's an exaggerated form of how insane this world can be, but we don't ever realize it.

Lyrics Born - Bad Dreams

This is a great hip hop song-- even if you don't listen to the lyrics. But the title itself reminds me that this world can seem like a big, bad dream that just won't end. The chorus is what really sticks out to me:

This situation has gotten out of control
With all this stress and confrontation I just might overload
My problems follow me to sleep at night won’t let me go
The more I hide the more they thrive deep down inside of my soul

I translate this as saying: Things are pretty messed up, and I can't take it anymore. There's this thing that's been haunting me and I try to bury it and deny it, but it gets worse when I don't face it.

Correction of Error

When a brother behaves insanely, you can heal him only by perceiving the sanity in him. If you perceive his errors and accept them, you are accepting yours... Your brother is as right as you are, and if you think he is wrong you are condemning yourself. --ACIM

A Holy Encounter
